Reopening rendering plant Q&A

The rendering plant at Cottown, Kintore, which was the subject of many complaints to SEPA
before it closed in 2004, is due to re-open under the ownership of Scot Proteins Ltd.
Following persistent complains about the offensive odours from the plant operated by Dundas Brothers, SEPA revoked the company’s licence to operate. Subsequently, the company ceased trading.
The site was taken over by new owners in 2007 and plans were announced to restart operations. This never happened and now the site has been taken over by Scot Proteins as the new owners.
This is a question and answer sheet produced by SEPA explaining the situation around the re-opening of the rendering plant.
