"The Bothie was closed for most of the winter months, but with some virtual contact with our young people," Brian Johnstone, Chairman of Action Kintore, reports.
Action Kintore SCIO is the community charity that set up and runs The Bothie, providing a safe, fun and inspiring environment. As a community charity, The Bothie’s services are funded entirely from grants and fundraising.
Youth workers organise sessions on specific topics and issues. There is a focus on advice and support to foster personal development and a key aim is to build resilience to face challenges.
"As we anticipate coming out of lockdown soon," Brian continues, "we forecast a big demand from our young people attending the Bothie Youth Facility on the sessions we offer for The Junior Group P5-P7, Bothie Girls S1+ and “Young And Free To Speak” S1+ sessions each week.
"As well as running the Bothie, many of you will know of our plans to refurbish the Town House and bring it into use for all of the Kintore community.
"The board and members are delighted to advise of our formal application for a Community Asset Transfer of The Town House and the appointment of Lippe Architects and Planners to prepare the detailed design work for a planning application and listed building consent to proposed alterations.
"We were required to make our own contribution to the funding we received from the Architectural Heritage Fund and Aberdeenshire Council for the design and planning application and are grateful to the following companies and individuals for their generosity."
Mr George Ross (JG Ross), Caledonian Transport, Kintore Post Office, Malcolm Allan Builders, Marine & Technical Limits, C&M McDonald, STATS Group, Kintore & District Community Council, Kintore & Kemnay Rotary, Muirend Energy (Leylodge Wind Farm), Rebecca Carr, Jim Reid Vehicle Sales. Scottish & Southern Energy.
"We have a strong and enthusiastic board but as we move into the next exciting stage with Action Kintore, we are light on general support so are seeking some volunteers to join us who are interested in youth work and the Town House project.
