NewsToday was a momentous day for Kintore when the new £15 million Kintore Station opened, 56 years after the original station was closed during to rail cuts. It's great to be reconnected with the national rail network.

With an eye to the future, a total of 24 of the 168 spaces in the car park are electric vehicle charging points. The first train to stop at the new station was the 06:35 from Aberdeen.

In the station are restored "Kintore" signs from the original Kintore Station, painted in the original white on blue British Rail Scottish Region colours. Outside the station are two historic benches from the original station.

They were tracked down, purchased and have been refurbished as a feature of the new station.

Kintore Station had been due to open in the spring, but the opening was delayed when work had to stop due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
